Response from Progressive for Glen Beck support E mail

Dear Mr. Andrus,
Recent media reports have created the incorrect impression that Progressive pulled advertising in response to specific comments made on The Glenn Beck Show, but that is not the case. The fact is that we did not intentionally place any of our advertising on the show, so when we learned that our ad had aired, we corrected the error.

Our goal is to reach a broad range of drivers to make them aware of our products and services. We value feedback on our advertising strategy, but because auto insurance is a very competitive business, we don’t discuss everything that goes into our ad placement decisions. We’d like to thank you for taking the time to express your opinion.

Sincerely,

Mary O.
Progressive Internet Representative

E mail sent to companies boycotting Glenn Beck

This is to let you know that with your boycotting of the Glenn Beck show I and others are boycotting your companies and products. I would think making consumers upset at this time of economic down fall and sluggish consumer buying would not be the smartest thing to do? But that like pulling your ads is your decision. Mine is to not buy or use any of your products.

Thank you for your time.

White House chain E-mail

Dear Friend,

This is probably one of the longest emails I’ve ever sent, but it could be the most important.

Across the country we are seeing vigorous debate about health insurance reform. Unfortunately, some of the old tactics we know so well are back — even the viral emails that fly unchecked and under the radar, spreading all sorts of lies and distortions.

As President Obama said at the town hall in New Hampshire, “where we do disagree, let's disagree over things that are real, not these wild misrepresentations that bear no resemblance to anything that's actually been proposed.”

So let’s start a chain email of our own. At the end of my email, you’ll find a lot of information about health insurance reform, distilled into 8 ways reform provides security and stability to those with or without coverage, 8 common myths about reform and 8 reasons we need health insurance reform now.

Right now, someone you know probably has a question about reform that could be answered by what’s below. So what are you waiting for? Forward this email.

Thanks,
David

David Axelrod
Senior Adviser to the President

P.S. We launched www.WhiteHouse.gov/realitycheck this week to knock down the rumors and lies that are floating around the internet. You can find the information below, and much more, there. For example, we've just added a video of Nancy-Ann DeParle from our Health Reform Office tackling a viral email head on. Check it out:

Obama bused in from outside state for Wakarusa appearance

Obama bused in from outside state for Wakarusa appearance #tcot #obamaelkhart

Protester in Wakarusa
According to twitterers on the ground in Wakarusa, members of several unions, including pipefitters and SEIU are coming in from points as far away as New York State to counter protests during the president’s appearance here. This from the same party that accused truly local protesters across the country of being “orchestrated.”
Large crowds there already, with counter protesters chanting loudly. Conservatives report they’ve been moved a couple times and now won’t see the helicopter arrive.

White House E amil and my reply

Dear Friend,

As you read this, we are closer than ever to passing comprehensive health insurance reform that benefits American families and small businesses. Despite all the back and forth in the news right now, it is important to understand just how far we've come in this challenging process.

That's why I'm holding a press conference tonight at 8pm ET, and writing to let everyone know where we are, what's ahead, and why health insurance reform is so important.

Let me be clear: although Congress is still debating parts of the legislation we have achieved critical consensus on several key areas:

If you already have health insurance: reform will provide you with more security and stability. It will limit your own out of pocket costs and prevent your insurance company from dropping your coverage if you get too sick. You'll also have affordable insurance options if you lose or change your job. And it will cover preventive care like check-ups and mammograms that save lives and money.

If you don't have health insurance: you will finally have guaranteed access to quality, affordable health care, and you can choose the plan that best suits your family's needs. And no insurance company will be allowed to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing medical condition.

Now, I realize that the last few miles of any race are the hardest to run, but we can't stop now. There's no dispute about it: we cannot control our long-term fiscal health as a nation without health insurance reform. American families and small businesses understand that the health insurance status quo is taking away those things that they value most about health care. The stability and security that comes with knowing that you can get the treatment you need, when you need it. Without reform, we are consigning our children to a future of skyrocketing premiums and crushing deficits.

We have to seize this opportunity and pass health insurance reform this year. You can help by forwarding this email to your family and friends and letting them know what's at stake in this debate.

Thank you,
Barack Obama

P.S. Tune in to tonight's press conference on health insurance reform at 8pm ET on WhiteHouse.gov.

My Reply

Obama Regulatory Czar's Confirmation Held Up by Hunting Rights Proponent

WASHINGTON -- President Obama's nominee for "regulatory czar" has hit a new snag in his Senate confirmation process -- a "hold" by Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who's says he's not convinced that Harvard professor Cass Sunstein won't push a radical animal rights agenda, including new restrictions on agriculture and even hunting.

Poll: Americans Say Country Heading in Wrong Direction Under Obama

That was fast. The hope and optimism that washed over the country in the opening months of Barack Obama's presidency are giving way to harsh realities.

An Associated Press-GfK Poll shows that a majority of Americans are back to thinking that the country is headed in the wrong direction after a fleeting period in which more thought it was on the right track.

Obama still has a solid 55 percent approval rating — better than Bill Clinton and about even with George W. Bush six months into their presidencies — but there are growing doubts about whether he can succeed at some of the biggest items on his to-do list. And there is a growing sense that he is trying to tackle too much too soon.

Telephone CO humour

PHONE REPAIR

A
Kansas farm wife called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions, when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang.

The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile lady. He climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house.

The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned and the telephone began to ring.

Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:

1 . The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a steel chain and collar.

2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.

3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the number was called.

4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate.

5. The wet ground would complete the circuit , thus causing the phone to ring.

Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

A day of winters delights

Crow tracks wondering across my yard, leaving impressions in the snow, looking for a tidbit to eat I ponder?

Winter trees rustling, to catch a whisper of wend drifting through them, in vane I think but still they try.

Blue skies are being overtaken by billowing gray clouds, drifting away from someone else’s withering view.

As the sun sets behind the earth, it turns the land a muted wash of colors, which artist must envy.

Setting by my window watching as the day dances by, I realize blest I been, with a day of glories sites.

I await the twinkling of the night’s skies, so I may rest a weary head, and dream the wonders of this day.

I just sent this to me two senators

STOP the stimulus bill as it is its full of pork and will not help the USA with taxes or jobs. VOTE NO and get some backbone. You need to stop listening to party members and start listening to the people that voted you in to office. Wake up and be a American and stop being a politician.

Costumer service

Was at a costumer’s home today that had phone jacks stop working. I found in the basement a junction with the phone lines and TV cable in it. The phone lines all where plugged in to a small jack field with RJ45s all where loose and just hanging there. I plugged them back in but the little plug lock did not work on any of them. Who ever wired the house used the wrong plugs and they did not mach the plugs. I did get them to plug back in and stay but sooner or later there work there way out. With no slack in the cables there was no way to repair the ends with out splicing on new cable and ends. But the home owner did not want to pay us to do that. So I suggested he call the contractor to see if he would warranty the work on a 3 year old house? He said he would.
